Register for the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program (Meaningful Use) by 2/28/17 or miss out on $63,750 in total program incentives

January 06, 2017

The 2016 program year is the LAST CHANCE for Eligible Professional (EPs) to enroll in the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program. While already enrolled EPs can attest in subsequent years, EPs cannot attest for the first time after the close of the 2016 “attestation tail period”. All providers still wishing to begin participation must register with CMS prior to the CMS attestation tail period close date of February 28, 2017. Failure to do so means the EP forfeits all 6 available incentives totaling $63,750.

EPs who begin program participation in 2016 need to participate in all of the remaining program years (2016-2021) to capture all 6 years of incentive payments. If an EP who begins program participation in 2016 does not participate in one of the program years, that year’s incentive is forfeited, but participation can continue and incentives may be earned in subsequent years.

All providers attesting to Meaningful Use (MU) for program year 2016 will attest to a MU reporting period of 90-366 days and a CQM (Quality Measure) reporting period of 90-366 days.

All 2016 Medicaid MU program registrations need to be submitted to the State of Michigan via CHAMPS before the close of the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program attestation tail period on March 1, 2017 at 11:59 p.m.

Any provider eligible for the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program is also eligible to receive our State-Subsidized Meaningful Use Technical Assistance to assist in achieving the program requirements.
